Q. How did you feel when wearing the Kiki set from Zuri Nation? What mood or vibe did it evoke for you?
A. I felt sexy for one. I felt confident it fit me well. It looked good on me. The color was perfect. The material was great. It was still a little stretchy. I felt naturally beautiful, you know, because it was a natural material. It was a natural look. And I'm all about that. So that Nubian feeling, I love it. Yeah. Thank you.
Q. As someone with a great sense of style, what is your favorite crochet top style, and why does it resonate with you?
A. The Kiki set is good because it's a universal kind of set, so you can wear it out, you can wear it just casual, you can dressy, be dressy with it. I modelled it. I felt great in it. I love the material. I love the style. You can switch things around as far as strands. The skirt is perfect length. It's not too short. It's right there. It fits my body perfectly. I'm curvy. So it just looked right on my skin, the material too. I love the yarn material that was used to make it.
And I enjoyed wearing it. And I like the style. I like that it is a two piece set. I always feel like having a two piece set because you can switch things around. You can wear the top with jeans or you can wear the skirt with a different top or. You could wear both together, maybe put something covering over it or wear it regularly. Summertime is like the perfect time to wear a set like outfit because it's beautiful outside when the warm weather comes. The material is not thick so it makes you hot and gives a lot of breathing room. So , that's very great.
Q. We'd love to collaborate with you for your next photoshoot or music video by providing a Zuri Nation crochet top. Are there any particular styles you have in mind for this collaboration?
A. So I like the royal blue one, too. I want to try doing royal blue. With the Kiki set, and I want to try to do like a, maybe a white or like another bright color. Just, I feel like with us, you know, Chocolate Girls, we are, we have this skin tone that is absolutely a beautiful collaboration with bright colors, like yellow, pink, blue, you know, pink, and oranges, and things like that. All those bright, bright colors, they always look really beautiful on our skin complexion. And I want to make sure I draw attention to that with the Kiki set. So when I do do that, I would love to have those bright colors, just to draw that attention to the set.
The most compliments that I received from the green one is the color on my skin complexion. It was like, oh my goodness, oh, that green looks so good on you, that your skin could be a chocolate brown, beautiful skin. The green is perfect with you. So I want to make sure I draw more attention to other colors, too, because I know it's going to look good. So yeah, that would be great.
.
Q. Let's dive into your music career! What inspired you to pursue music, and how would you describe your musical style?
A. The thing that inspires me the most about music is the creativity, the beauty in music, how therapeutic music is. Music is like meditation for me. Whether I'm singing or writing music or just listening to music, I love it. It's like a soother. You know how a baby has a pacifier and then they need something to soothe them whenever I'm under a lot of stress, whenever I have a lot on my mind? Whenever I'm in my thoughts or, you know, just in general, you know, if I'm going through a life circumstance, you know, we're human, we all go through things.
But whenever I'm listening to a song or I decide I want to start writing about my emotions and what I'm feeling at the moment, that's inspirational to me, is because with that writing process, it helps. And I would describe my music as Pretty versatile. I'm a very versatile artist. So I can sing with anyone, sing anything. But personally, me, as far as my music, I am an R&B, hip-hop soul singer.
And what makes me more unique is my voice. I grew up listening to you know, classical legendary artists and vocalists that really can sing. And that's how I learned how to really sing too, you know, from listening to them singing their songs. I sing in church. And, you know, as growing up and doing shows and things like that, I've made a lot of progress and growth with my vocal abilities and, you know, my writing skills and things like that.
A lot of things with music that inspires me the most is what a huge difference it makes in people's lives. Like, if we didn't have music, I feel like it would just be just very quiet and too still. People wouldn't understand the meaning of emotions. I feel like music brings a lot of that emotional side to people where they can get in tune with themselves and, you know, be able to, you know, share their emotions with others, especially if they're in love. Because that's what R&B is really about. So it's about love. So I feel like that is a huge impact. And I feel blessed to be able to have this gift. I thank God every day because I feel like my gift is a gift to someone else in a way.
Q. Black love is a powerful theme in your music and presence. Can you share what "black love" means to you personally and how it influences your art?
A. I believe when love comes within, it starts with you first, love in general. Because if you don't love yourself first, you won't properly love someone else or anything else in the world. And love draws love, you know? So I feel like Black love is, it has a huge meaning. You know, the definition for it is, there's a lot to explain when there's a lot to describe when it comes to what black love truly means. I feel like it is within, you know, it's the confidence. It's the, you know, the emotions, the, um, you know, the passion behind it all. I feel like that's what, you know, black love is sensitive. It's good. It's reaching within, you know, deeper within the roots, the soul. That's where that black love comes from, because it's so strong. You know, it's something that's very, very strong.
Q. Do you have any plans or initiatives to support your community through your music or other projects? If so, could you tell us more about them?
A. So, I've developed a program to be able to return back to the community .There is Fritz and Mag Women's Empowerment and Fritz and Mag Studios.
The Fritz and Mag Women's Empowerment is to target young women and women worldwide and to empower and to uplift, to encourage, to, you know, be a part of the culture where we, support women, women supporting women and young women, you know, because we need each other, we need the strength to get to for each other, because over the years of time, women have suffered for so much.
And we still do, you know, we get stereotype, we get reputations, disrespect, and expectations of what a woman should truly be like what the traditional woman should be like, And, you know, with all of these expectations, and all these things coming from society for us women, it's really hard to really pinpoint exactly where we belong, what we need to do, how we should behave. My mission and goal in regards of the community with uplifting young women worldwide is to just be that, develop and continuing, you know, the culture of sisterhood.
When I was an upcoming artist, I've had support along the way. You know, I've had someone help me get into the studio. I've had someone, you know, talk to me in regards of, you know, what route I should take as far as music, you know, my confidence or someone, you know, there was always someone along the way that gives a little bit of a hint here and I felt like I have a lot to do on my own independently as an artist, but I wouldn't really be where I am right now if I didn't have any support from Community, from doing local shows with other artists in the community and working with other producers and engineers growing up.
So I developed the Artist Development Program to be able to give back to those upcoming artists who want to go into stardom, who want to perfect their musical craft or their arts or their performing arts .I wanted to open that door and develop a platform where they can have that. And there are live session is where all the artists or anyone in the music or entertainment industry is able to come together and kind of discuss what their experiences are, you know, educate each other, have open discussion to see and network with each other as well.
So on top of me being an artist, following my acting career and things and modelling. I want make sure that I open that door to my community where I have platforms that I have developed so that they can have opportunities to grow in theirs too.
Q. What have been some significant milestones in your music career so far? Are there any challenges you've faced, and how have you overcome them?
A. Some milestones I would say would have to be finding the right people that support you to work with. Not giving up, just keep going. There'll be setbacks. I've had many setbacks. I've had many words of discouragement to me that said, oh, well, it's not going to go anywhere. You're not going to do anything, or it's not worth it. There's too much going on with that. Or just as gradually over time, you'll run into people who have your best interests and people who don't.
My milestone with that was I learned from it, I understand I understand that everything happens for a reason. And I feel like if I didn't go through those things with people that I met along my journey, if I didn't have those setbacks, if I wasn't told, oh, don't put that song out. It's not a good song. If I listened to that, I feel like I wouldn't be where I am right now.
So I lost a few people that were dear to my heart. And that helped me along the way to be able to really, really create my music, put all of my heart, my soul, my emotions, my thoughts, what I envision, my dreams, what I'm so passionate about, what I want to prosper for, all of that. I put all of that into my music. This is just a reflection within the past couple of years of all of the things that I have been through, the life circumstances, the life changes that I've had with losing people that are extremely close to me, that were really inspirational, that motivated me, that believed in me.
From being able to have a phone call say, hey, what do you think about this song? You know, hey, are you going to record or, you know, have you recorded another song? What's going on with your music? You know, and not being able to talk to that person anymore on the phone, you know, that is a huge milestone to overcome because now you have to, you know, kind of change your life around where not necessarily forgetting who that person is.
Keeping them in spirit, but also knowing that they're not physically there. And continuing to stay focused and knowing that I'm passionate about something, I want to accomplish this goal, I want to make a lot of progress with it, I want to make a change with my music. So yeah, it's been a journey, but I'm proud that I learned from those experiences, you know.
Q. How do you balance your creative pursuits, such as music, acting, entrepreneurship influencing and modelling, with other aspects of your life while staying true to yourself and your values?
A. Well, first and foremost, prayer is extremely powerful and I pray about everything. Literally, I meditate, I take time for mental health days where I just sit and I have a day to myself where I don't think about what's going on around the world. I focus on physically my mental health, re-evaluating everything that I have going on and get back on track. Because sometimes going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and you don't take that time, you have to give yourself time to just process things. So my number one thing that I do is I pray. That's the first thing that I do. I pray about everything, I pray in the morning, I pray at night, I pray before I make my decisions.
Secondly, confidence, you know, knowing that I'm capable of doing it, not being discouraged by what I'm being told or, you know, believing that everything is like, oh, it's not going to happen. And I'm very hardworking and very passionate about what I do. So I always want to make sure that that's known.
Networking, you know, networking with people and building really, really great relationships with others. That's extremely helpful because as a woman, and here you are working and working and working, and the expectations of certain things are stereotyped, or society has expectations of this is how a woman is supposed to be, when I love what I do, and I'm into a very masculine entertainment world. I have to still be feminine, but at the same time, I have to be masculine at the same time too, because I have to show that side of me where I don't want you to play with me, because this is what I love to do. This is what I'm passionate about, and you're not going to play with me, you know? And you have to put up with me.
You have to be tough but you also need to stay humble. You need to understand that if you develop a relationship with someone, you develop a friendship or you have a story from people, you have to understand where you give credit where credit is due. That's a part of being humble. Some people have taken opportunities and ran with it and completely forgot about the people who have done good for them. And along the way, karma returns, it always does.
Be confident. Be confident in your appearance. Be confident in your sex appeal. Be confident in your being educated. Be confident and demand your respect as a woman and as a character and as a person in general. Because we all are humans and we have feelings. And one thing about people when they're into entertainment and things like that, sometimes feelings aren't involved. You know, you have to be able to have tough skin, but also demand that respect.
So I think that that's one of the most important things with me and how I get along the way is those certain things right there. And if it doesn't feel right, I follow my gut. I follow my gut. I've learned to trust my intuition. I've learned to bond with it. My faith, you know, if I have a weird feeling about it, then i am not doing it.
Q. What can we expect next from Kathiana Music? Can you share any exciting projects or releases that your fans can look forward to in the near future?
A.
Well, I have some music, coming out. I'm working. Right now I'm working on the video for my single that's out right now. I'm going to be doing a mini tour of New York which is towards the end of April. Of course, more photo shoots. I'm working on doing some more acting. And my project as far as my EP that's coming out soon, that's going to be dropping. I'm not giving a date yet. But I do have another single that I'm going to be dropping soon as well, which I'm excited about Because this music that I'm putting out is going to be more in tune with me, really. It's really going to be what I feel, speaking of confidence, speaking of having a good time, speaking of, you know, womanhood, and emotion.
There's so many things that I'm going to be talking about within my project, and I just, you know, I want every, I hope, and I know, and I know, because that's my target, is to really connect with as many people as possible with this new music that I'm going to be putting out. And I also have, it's going to be fun. You know, it's going to be fun music. The festivals are going to be great. The flyers, they're all coming out. The dates are coming out. So the summer of 2024, as of right now, it's going to be insane but it is going to be fun.
And I'm looking forward to doing a lot more stuff with Zuri Nation. It's going to be amazing, you know, from photo shoots to You know, just promos, whatever, to outfits and things like that. I think that's going to be super beneficial for a lot of women in the summertime because, you know, the weather's getting warm and they want something cute to wear.
So, With Zuri Nation, when we first collaborated and I had my outfit on, for some reason, I felt so good in it and I looked great so I'm looking forward to wearing more outfits where I look just as good and you know it just it's going to be amazing. And I'm looking forward to wearing some of those outfits in some of my videos, my music videos. I do have a video that I have in mind with one of those outfits being on there. So we're working a little bit on something like that, too.
But yeah, I'm really looking forward to a bright summer with my projects and my shows coming up. And doing some more acting. I have some movies that I'm working on right now. So you're going to look out for that too. This is going to be exciting.
Q. Finally, how can your followers and our readers support you and stay updated on your journey?

Um, you can even become, you know, go on my followers list where you can have closer communication with me and what my upcoming projects and things are.
I wouldn't really do a lot of the stuff that I'm doing without people continuing continuously following me and just you know being super supportive um I do have to say thank you thank you to you know everybody that's been super supportive along the way you know, through my journey, you know, um, community. Um, I don't, I mean, I don't really like to call people fans. If you like, I call them supporters because I feel like calling somebody a fan is demeaning in a way. So I always say supporters. I feel like it's much better to say followers.
So thank you to all my supporters.
